Koen B. : Darkness has returned! The band was founded back in 1984, released their debut full-length ‘Death Squad’ in 1987, followed by ‘Defenders Of Justice’ in 1988 and their third and so far last studio album ‘Conclusion & Revival’ came out in 1989. Then the band went on hiatus for a long time (and continued under the Eure Erben monniker). Sure, some demo’s, compilation and live albums saw the light of day throughout the years but honestly the hardcore Darkness fans have been looking forward to new material from the German death squad in stead of warmed-up left overs.
‘XXIX’, a four track demo, marks the come-back of the Altenessen thrashers. A bit of a disappointment is that the band has only recorded two new songs (‘L.A.W.’ and ‘Hate Is My Engine’) and has re-recorded two oldies but goodies (‘Death Squad’ and ‘Burial At Sea’) and not a genuine new album, but this is only a matter of time. ‘XXIX’ is a great demo that should be in your hands a.s.a.p.
