Koen B. : I really enjoyed Lord Vulture's debut CD 'Beast of Thunder', a release of which I thought was "un-Dutch good”. To me, their first appearance turned out to be a very great and exciting heavy / power metal album which should attract to anyone who is into Malmsteenesque guitar dazzling rapid power metal with over the top shattering vocals. The CD, along with dazzling live performances as a headliner, but also supporting Blaze Bayley, Sabbath Judas Sabbath and Conquest Of Steel, catapulted the group to the forefront of the Dutch heavy metal scene.
This month Lord Volture is ready to reap what's sown because 'Never Cry Wolf' sees the light of day. It was recorded at Excess and Final Focus Studio's and produced by Yuma van Eekelen (Pestilence) and Bart Hennephof (Textures). The tradition to request a renowned visitor on their albums is being continued. On 'Beast Of Thunder' mr. Jeff Waters (Annihilator) laid down an ear-splitting guitar solo and on 'Never Cry Wolf', Sean Peck (Cage) is invited to contribute some vocal parts. The first release was mainly focussed on heavy power metal in combination with guitar solo's (no less than 58 solo's perked it up!) but dissimilar to that one, I believe 'Never Cry Wolf' mainly focuses on first-class songs rather than trying to keep guitar masturbators happy. Therefore this album is more about good song writing and musical deepness which doesn't necessarily mean the lack of some cunt banging yet intelligent tracks. Overall, 'Never Cry Wolf' is another step forward in the right direction and a big step forward from the band's debut.
For the reason that this is a self-financed, self-released CD, I guess you won't be able to find this one in stores. Therefore you are obliged to order it directly from the band's webstore. This is a small investment with big returns!
